Tamarac offers great opportunities for development and redevelopment projects in our thriving South Florida community. We also have brand new retail plazas coming onboard – an excellent opportunity for retailers and restaurants to establish a new home in Tamarac!
Developers are investing heavily in Tamarac. In the last few years, thousands of new residential units have been added to the community, and hundreds more are in the development pipeline. New hotels are under construction, and a new major mixed-use project known as “Tamarac Village” will create a new downtown area for our City. We’ve had several major multi-million-dollar corporate expansions in our Commerce Park, including 350,000 square feet of warehouse space where Amazon recently opened.
With development booming, we’re focusing our economic development efforts on our commercial corridors and revitalizing aging and underutilized shopping centers. One of the City’s targeted commercial redevelopment areas, Four Corners Shopping District, falls within our federally designated Opportunity Zone (also designated for the federal New Market Tax Credit and Community Development Block Grant programs).

Our Redevelopment Areas
- The Medical Mile District where University Hospital is located, and includes opportunities for new medical offices, retail spaces and restaurants, as well as housing and mixed-use development.
- The Nouveau Quarter is the Redevelopment Area targeted for restaurants, mixed-use buildings, and transit-oriented development.
- The Four Corners Shopping District is targeted for enhancements to existing retail at the gateway to Tamarac, and transit-oriented development.
- The commercial corridors along McNab Road and Commercial Boulevard are targeted for enhanced commercial and mixed-use development, restaurants and retail.
Opportunity Zone – Commercial Development Area Opportunity in Tamarac
A portion of Tamarac’s Opportunity Zone is within the Four Corners Shopping District Redevelopment Area. An important retail shopping destination and gateway to Tamarac, the marketing analysis in the 2014 Commercial Arterial Redevelopment Study identified demand at Four Corners that would support additional commercial development. Since the study was published, hundreds of new additional residential units have been built in this area; creating more demand and an untapped opportunity for commercial investment.
